Initial Disclosure

Important information

The Financial Conduct Authority is the independent regulator of financial services. The Financial Conduct Authority requires us to provide you with a document called an 'Initial Disclosure Document'. This document provides information about us, the products we offer, the services we will provide, what we charge for our services, who regulates us, what to do if you have a complaint, and details about the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Understanding our products and documents

If you have any health issues, difficulty in understanding information, or there are any recent life events that could affect your ability to fully understand the information and documentation you are presented with or what your commitments are under the agreement; you should carefully consider the amount of time you require to review the documentation. You should also consider if it is advisable for you to have someone you know to help you make your decision. Please advise us accordingly if this is the case and we can then proceed with your requirements in the most appropriate way.

You should make sure you have sufficient time to assess the information given to ensure the funding option offered is suitable for you and meets your requirements. You should seek further explanations and ask questions if needed to understand the documents you are given fully.

What services do we provide?

  1. We offer vehicle leasing and contract-hire products. All our products relate to leasing and hiring a vehicle.
  2. We do not fund any credit contracts ourselves. All credit applications are introduced to a third-party lender. We are a Broker, not a Lender.
  3. We will not give you advice or a recommendation. We have provided you with product information, enabling you to make your own choice about how to proceed.
  4. We encourage you to ask us at any stage anything that is unclear and obtain independent advice if you still do not fully understand the credit arrangements.
  5. Please note that we will be unable to introduce you to the finance company unless we are satisfied you fully understand the terms and conditions of the finance you are applying for. This is for your protection and ours.
  6. We recognise that customers should be able to shop around for credit and find alternative sources of credit.

What we will do

  1. Explain the key features of the regulated credit agreement to enable you to make an informed choice.
  2. Take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that a product we offer to you is not unsuitable for your needs and circumstances.
  3. Advise you to read and allow you sufficient opportunity to consider the terms and conditions of a credit agreement before entering into it.
  4. Before referring you to a third party that carries out regulated activities, obtain your consent after explaining to you why your details are to be disclosed to that third party.
  5. Before effecting an introduction of you to a lender we will explain how, when and where you may exercise your cancellation rights.
  6. If you have not taken delivery of your new vehicle within 60 days of the initial soft credit search, we will perform a further soft credit search to ensure your circumstances have not changed. If your circumstances change, your application may be declined. The soft search is not visible to other lenders and will not impair your ability to obtain other credit.

Affordability

You should assess the monthly payments you are required to make throughout the agreement and ensure you are able to meet these obligations and other obligations you already have without suffering undue hardship. If you are aware of any future events that will affect your ability to meet these payments, you should ensure the provider is informed immediately.

Your credit rating could be adversely affected if you do not make payments when due, which could make it harder or more expensive for you to access finance facilities in the future.

Treating customers fairly

Our business is committed to treating our customers fairly and ensuring our products and services are suitable for their needs. Treating customers fairly is a core part of our culture and philosophy, and you can review our commitment to it by asking for a copy of our Treating Customers Fairly policy statement.

Confidentiality and data protection

Throughout the process of administering services for you, we will need to collect personal information from you and pass this information to one or more third-party organisations in order for them to supply any services you request. This may include passing this information to one or more potential lenders or credit brokers to enable them to make a credit decision. These lenders may use your information to conduct an affordability and credit worthiness assessment and will do so using the consent given by you. This may include sharing your information with credit reference agencies and other companies for use in credit decisions and fraud prevention. For full details of where your information will be sent and the purpose for doing so, or to cancel your consent for the processing of your personal data, please contact us.

In cases where the most suitable lender may refuse your initial application, your application may be referred to other lenders or credit brokers who may also share information with credit reference agencies in order to assess your application for finance. Those lenders or credit brokers will not use your personal information to provide you with promotional or marketing material unless you opt-in to receive this material directly from them.

A copy of our Privacy Policy, which details how your information will be processed and your rights, is freely available online and upon request. To request this information, please contact us at:

Quotations

We will quote figures based on our funder's cost of funds. The funder has the right to change or decline these quotes on receipt of the full proposal.

Restrictions and potential extra costs

A limit is set on the annual mileage of the leased vehicle. If you exceed this, you will pay excess mileage charges at the end of the contract. If the vehicle is damaged, you may also have to pay damage costs when you hand the vehicle back. If you want to terminate the agreement early, you may have to pay all outstanding rentals, and therefore, you should take care to match the terms of the contract to your expected requirements.

Ownership options

  • You are renting the vehicle and will never own the vehicle.
  • You simply hand the keys back to the provider at the end of the agreement.
  • You can pick your next brand-new car and agree on another lease deal.

Don’t worry about getting the car back to the provider at the end of the agreement. Just remember to put enough fuel into it, and they will come and take it off your hands at a time that suits you.

An inspection of the car will be part of this pickup, so be sure to check that there’s no damage to it that could be considered beyond fair wear and tear. The car doesn’t need to be in showroom condition.

Payment and Equity

As you are only using and are not purchasing the vehicle and, therefore, are not paying for the full value of the vehicle, you will not have any equity in the vehicle when the agreement ends. Payments may be lower than some other forms of finance over the same period because you are not paying for the total value of the vehicle.

The cost of our services and commission

We charge a processing fee to cover the costs incurred for processing your agreement. Lease Me Cars charges a processing fee of £165.83 + VAT for our services, which is payable by debit or credit card or by bank transfer once finance approval has been received and you sign a vehicle order form.

If you decide to enter an agreement with them, the finance provider will pay us a commission, which will be a fixed fee. You are entitled, at any time, to request information regarding any payment we may have received. Any payment and/or commission received from the funder will not affect what you pay under the agreement.

Conflicts of interest

If, through exceptional circumstances, Lease Me Cars or any of its directors or other customers has a material interest in the business you ask to be transacted for you, we will make you aware of the conflict of interest and obtain your consent before your instructions are carried out. A copy of our Conflicts of Interest Policy is available on request.
